I've gotten used to Stephanie being one of those people that just says I'm going to do something and then goes for it - but this one still takes the cake. When she told me she was going to run for The Ohio State Universy Homecoming Court and Queen, I did what every supportive mom does - told her that was fantastic but reminded her not to get her hopes up. You know 50,000 plus students and all. She did make it on the Court, so as promised though we all went to Columbus for Homecoming weekend.

What would Homecoming be without a parade of the court - in spite of the downpours and my daughters complaints "Oh Mom - it's raining on my parade!"
Steph's Parade

It rained - we got soaked (notice the bottom of everyone's jeans)
and we loved every minute of it.

The moment of truth - 104,000 fans in the OSU stadium, gameday excitement, spirit and then...my jaw dropping to the ground to hear my kid's name called and then be crowned 2006 homecoming queen. Lets face it - this kid was born to wear a tiara!

Homecoming Queen

It was like she owned the whole stadium. People stopped her to have their photos taken, they got excited when she stepped into the same elevator - ahhh more ego boosting for the young woman who never had a shortage of self confidence in the first place! Got to love it.

Of course The Homecoming Queen has many duties during the year, and Steph being Steph, she loves poking fun at herself too. Checkout this OSU Get Involved Video

It was a great year and Steph made the most of it - right up to the day she crowned the 2007 Homecoming Queen, as evidence by her front and center appearance at the OSU Michigan game on ABC Sports
